Tiramisu, How I Love You

One of my favorite desserts (besides ice cream) is tiramisu. Tad and I order it at every Italian restaurant we go to. I'm not quite sure why, but I never really thought to try to make it myself at home. It just seemed to complicated. Well, I finally gave it a try, using this recipe from Epicurious. Aside from the fact that I only used one pack (instead of 2) of ladyfingers, it came out pretty well!

It was a lot easier to make than I thought. Not only that, but it was fun! I enjoyed beating the egg whites until they formed stiff peaks; and it's really neat how you can beat heavy cream into a light, fluffy and delicious cream.

I'm so happy I now know how to make our favorite dessert! The time I make it, I'll make sure to get enough ladyfingers so I can make lots of delicious layers. Some chocolate shavings on top wouldn't hurt either. Do you have a favorite dessert that you've tried to replicate at home?

nom nom nom! I wish I could make tiramisu at home, but my husband hates coffee so I'd have to eat the whole thing, and I'm not a huge fan of desserts... so, I will have to stay hungry and just be jealous of your yummy treat!
Hope you have a happy weekend!

I make this every year around the holidays. My mother-in-law loves it, mainly because of the rum soaked ladyfingers, LOL! But I remembered the first time I made it I was pretty proud of myself. It's a pretty fancy dessert but easily made at home. Usually after I make the tiramisu, I'll use the left over egg whites to make chocolate mousse, either that or a huge egg white omelet.
