Macarons... to Wear?

Happy Christmas a day late! I hope you had a great one and that all your wishes came true. Tad and I both had to work Christmas day but we did get to spend all of Christmas Eve together and it ended up being a beautiful, wonderful day. We woke up and went for a morning run with our dogs, gave each other our gifts, and went to lunch at one of our favorite places, Gyu-Kaku. We then spent the evening celebrating with family and friends. It was a perfect Christmas eve!

This was my Christmas Eve outfit- not very "holyday-ish" but I just couldn't resist wearing it! You see, I stayed up late into the night finishing this dress so that I could wear something special to celebrate the day in (please pardon the wrinkles...we had a very long lunch sitting down).
Outfit Details:
Dress- made by me!
Fabric- by Kokki
Purse/Tights- Anthropoligie
Shoes- Urban Outfitters
Necklace- Forever 21

Not only do I love eating macarons, I apparently love to wear them as well! This dress is called the Macaron Dress and it took me about 12 hours total to make but I just adore it. The color reminds me more of spring than winter but I just couldn't help putting it on! Beside, it pretty much felt like spring, with the weather being a beautiful, sunny 73 degrees! Who needs a White Christmas anyways?

Don't Quit My Day Job?

Whew! So I survived my first job as a wedding coordinator (and guest of the wedding couple) and while the event turned out fantastic, it wasn't easy! Believe event planners when they tell you that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Okay, maybe I am exaggerating a little bit. Just a little.

I got to the event 3 hours before to give myself plenty of time to set up but that really wasn't necessary. Because it started to rain...and the ceremony was outside. So after waiting over an hour with off and on rain, we decided to set up the chairs for both the outdoor area and the backup indoor area. After 2 hours, it looked like the rain cleared up and the sun starting to peak out so we decided to do the ceremony outdoors. Just after the DJ set up, it started raining again and started to get all his equipment wet. So our final plan was to move it indoors. We had just set out all the rose petals down the aisle when we went outside and sure enough, it was sunny and beautiful. By now it was only 30 minutes before guests were to arrive. I made one last decision to move everything outside. I think the florist and the DJ were going to kill me but my job was to think about the bride and groom. If they saw how beautiful the weather was outside and we had decided to have it inside (in a drab kind of room), they would of probably been pissed. Luckily, my husband was also there to help me- he tied the tulle around the chairs and laid out the aisle runner! We managed to get set-up with 5 minutes to spare before guests started arriving. Whew! The weather held up and the ceremony ended up being beautiful, with a gorgeous orange sunset.

Other funny things that ended up happening but was fixed without the bride and groom knowing: the cake that got delivered was missing and the cupcakes were misplaced; the bridesmaid letting the photographer photograph the ring then forgetting to bring it to the aisle; the button falling off the dress and having to be held up by a giant safety pin. In the end, everything worked out fine and no one noticed any kind of mishap.
So while it was a little stressful, I still had an awesome time doing it. I loved seeing how happy the couple were with everything and how great of a time everyone had and I hope to do more event planning in the future! Oh, I also really have to thank my husband, who was there to help me set-up and clean-up. He really is awesome.

School Girl in Hope of Luck

Happy Friday! I'm very excited and slightly nervous for this weekend because tomorrow is the very first wedding that I am coordinating. I've spent the past few weeks finalizing every little detail with the bride and groom and all the vendors. I've also revised their detailed wedding day timeline countless of times and I can't believe the day if finally here! I'm excited to see all the details and vision come to life, but I'm also nervous because it's my job to make sure everything runs smoothly (oh please, oh please, help there be no crazy catastrophe!).  I had such a blast planning everything with the bride and groom and I hope I get to do more event planning in the future!

Outfit details:
Dress- Urban Outfitters
Cardigan- Banana Republic
Shoes- DKNY
Tights- Target
Headband- Anthropologie

On a side note, my husband said I look like a school girl in this outfit. I actually like that comment- I adore school-girly clothes! Okay, I'm off to run last-detail errands before the wedding rehearsal. Wish me luck tomorrow!!

It's Begining to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

No matter how fast Christmas is approaching, it never truly feels like Christmas to me until we get a tree in the house! Last weekend Tad and I finally went to pick out our tree, put up the lights, and wrapped our gifts (isn't this the cutest wrapping paper?!). I don't know about you, but I'm just about finished with Christmas shopping. Yay! How are your holiday plans coming along? I think I'm going to spend the next few weeks baking a lot of holiday treats. Yum!

Shower for Baby Boy!

As I mentioned before, I hosted a baby shower for my very good friend Trish. She is expecting her first baby and it's a boy! Since it was an intimate shower of a few close girlfriends, I chose to have it at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena. The Langham is gorgeous and they are well known for their fabulous tea time. We gals had an awesome time!

I love planning parties and I especially love planning out all the little details. How about you? Do you get excited at the thought of planning a party, whether big or small?

Macaron Dreams

Lately I've been craving macarons, like, all the time. I love the moist and chewy texture and isn't it just the cutest little dessert? Bottega Louie is one of my favorite restaurants and they also happen to make the yummiest macarons I've ever tasted. Aren't these gorgeous? Check out the gold flakes and the beautiful blue color!

I've also come to find that these make awesome party favors and they fit perfectly into these acrylic boxes that I found at Michaels.  I gave these as party favors at my best friend's baby shower and they were a hit!

I can't wait to share some more details of the shower with you later this week!

Do you love macarons? Where do you get your favorite from?

Thanksgiving and Tea

Hey everyone! I hope you had an awesome Thanksgiving weekend filled with family, friends, and of course, good food. I seriously think I gained 5 lbs just over the weekend but the yummy food was so worth it.  I finished the weekend off by hosting a baby shower tea party for my best friend Trish and had a great time catching up with some awesome ladies. I can't wait to show you some details of the party but for now, this is what I wore.

Outfit Details:
Shoes- BHLDN
Necklace- F21

It was an awesome 80 degrees (winter) day, a perfect day to wear this girly Dear Creatures dress. Days like this make me feel so lucky to live in Southern California!

A Thankful Thanksgiving

Happy Turkey Day! I know everyone has many things to be thankful for- for me, it's:
- My loving husband
- My family and good friends
- My job that I Love
- My two dogs that I adore
- and really, just for the blessed life that I have!

I'm also thankful that I don't have to cook a thing this year- I get to go to my parent's and eat my heart out! I'll leave you with this banana cream pie recipe that I made the other day for my husband, in case you wanted some dessert besides pumpkin and pecan pie :) Enjoy!!

I'm Back!

Hi! Yikes, I've been gone for a while! I've been quite a busy bee and in between working, I've been planning a wedding and a baby shower. That and coupled with the time change left me with barely any daylight for taking photos. Luckily, things are winding down now- just in time for the holidays!

Outfit Details:
Dress- Modcloth
Tights- Anthropologie
Boots- Steve Madden

Today was my first day in a while that I didn't have anything planned. I ended up sleeping a total of 10hrs! I spent the earlier part of the day making pot roast (well, I just threw the ingredients in my slow cooker) and baking Tad's favorite dessert- banana cream pie. I think I'll spend the remainder of the day on holiday planning and maybe hitting the mall for a little bit of Christmas shopping. I love the holidays!!

Thanks for staying with me when I was away- I hope you have an awesome Thanksgiving weekend!!

Tugboat Style

Last month I started sewing this coat and I finished it last night and it made it's debut today. It is the perfect light coat for fall- just thick enough to keep me warm cool but sunny day. I wanted my coat to have a whimsical touch so I chose a cute fabric with little tugboat prints and added big wooden buttons. I'm thinking of making this in a solid color too.

Outfit Details:
Tugboat Coat- made by me! (Indygo Junction IJ866)
Dress- Modcloth
Shoes- Modcloth
Tights- Target

I think this is my favorite thing I've sewn so far- I love it so much! I definitely think this coat is going to be worn not just in the fall, but all year long! Do you have a favorite piece of clothing that you wear year-round?

Rain and Bows

Brrrrrrrr it's gotten cold here! Last Sunday Tad and I had a very lazy day in because it was raining. After relaxing indoors all day, we decided to get out of the house and go out to dinner. The rain had let up a little and we went to a Korean restaurant. After dinner we wanted to get some boba tea (bubble tea) but once we left the restaurant, it was seriously pouring cats and dogs! So we just went home instead and since then I've had this crazy craving for boba!

For some reason, Tad and I don't own an umbrella...I dunno why. But my favorite jacket to wear in the cold and rain is this snowboarding jacket I've had since highschool. It's so warm and cozy, waterproof, and super cute. Plus, it has a really beautiful lining. Love it!

Outfit Details:
Jacket- snowboarding jacket
Pants- Urban Outfitters
Top/bag/headband- Anthropologie
Shoes-Kensie Girl from Macy's

I haven't been posting as frequently because by the time I get home from work, it's already too dark to take photos! But I will try to post as much as I can :)

Time to Cuddle

Happy Friday!! It's cold, windy and rainy here, which makes me want to go straight home after work to curl up under the covers and cuddle with my honey. It's also my weekend off, yippee! Tad and I are planning to sleep in, make breakfast, and stay in most of the day watching movies and eating popcorn.

 Necklace/charms- Anthropologie

I was excited when I saw these new charms to customize your own necklace at Anthropologie. I went a little crazy at first, grabbing almost every charm! In the end, I ended up getting a "T" and a "2" since both mine and Tad's initials are TT. Have you customized a necklace with these charms?

Have a great weekend!
