Pony-ing Around

Ever put on something that made you want to run, jump and skip? That's how I felt with this pretty top and bubbly skirt! I've had this skirt for a while now but the top is fairly new and it sure puts a smile on my face. Maybe it's the little ponies. Or the cute bow. Or the hot pink on navy. And paired with this fun skirt, it made for a great outfit to dance the night away in. 

Unfortunately, all we did was go out to eat, but at least I got to prance around with my doggies for a bit before dinner.

Springing Forward

Yay! I love springing forward, even if we do lose an hour. I love getting off of work while there's still light outside, it makes it seem like I still have lots of time when I get home (I know, it's a mental thing). Plus, now I'll get to take more blog photos too. Hooray.

Tad and I had another great weekend- even if we did get one less hour of sleep! On Saturday night, we went to see Ovo Cirque du Soleil in Santa Monica and it was awesome. Some of the acts just blew my mind. So. Amazing.

On Sunday we went to the Pasadena Rose Bowl Flea Market. It was our first time (we usually go to the Pasadena City College one) and it was huge! Almost too big. There were so many fun things to look at and I ended up purchasing two pretty vintage dresses.

We're just taking a little break at home before we head out again for dinner at my favorite restaurant, Bottega Louie, with our good friends Stephan and Anne. We haven't seen them since their wedding (that I planned!) so it'll be fun to catch up.

Life's a Beach

Last weekend I got to spend a couple hours by myself in Laguna Hills, which I really enjoyed. Tad was interviewing for a fellowship position at a nearby hospital so I offered to drive him there and wait for him. In a little over a year, his residency training (5 years total after 4 years of medical school) will be coming to an end! Hooray! But even after 4 years of medical school and 5 years of residency training, he still has a yearlong fellowship to do. Sheesh, that's like a specialist with a specialty with a subspecialty. I'm one proud wifey!

After dropping Tad off at his interview, I headed towards the beach. The morning started off ugly and gloomy when I first started taking photographs but by the time I was done, the sun was shining. Hello world! Laguna has beautiful beaches and it was so nice to just bask in the sunlight while looking out at the ocean. I watched some paddleboarders go by, saw a pod of dolphins, and even glimpsed a few water spouts from whales! It was a lovely morning.

I was feeling a little tired and sluggish when I got to the beach but after a beautiful, calming morning to myself, I felt much more energized. There's nothing like the feel of the ocean breeze on your face and the smell of salt water to awaken your soul.

Basil-Mint Lemonade

My hubby's favorite drink (well, non-alcoholic drink) is lemonade so when I saw this basil and mint infused lemonade recipe from the blog Taste and Tell, I just had to try it.

Tad loved it so much! I like to keep a pitcher in the fridge at all times- it's especially great when you have unexpected guests over too (I also served it at a dessert night that I hosted a couple weeks back).

Yummm....reminds me of summer! 

Withdrawing.....a Cupcake from the ATM?

Yay it's hump day! Tad and I have the day off together and we were suppose to go on a sunrise hot air balloon rise but the weather decided not to cooperate. Due to high winds, our balloon ride was cancelled. Boo.

At least we got to sleep in (instead of waking up at 4am) and now we plan on visiting this cupcake ATM. Yup, that's right, a cupcake ATM. Amazing right?!

Not a bad alternate plan right? I'll let you know how yummy the cupcakes are!

Dressing Like A Grown Up

Let's face it. I'm a kid at heart. And I like it! I love running around and being silly, and I usually can't get through a couple hours without giggling about something. It's a good thing my husband likes being silly with me too. In fact, he sometimes calls me his comedy wife, since I'm always making silly jokes and giggling about everything.

But this can backfire one me, as sometimes I don't feel like I'm being taken seriously. People are usually surprised to find out that I'm 30, not nineteen, and it doesn't help that I love dressing up in cutesy dresses instead of looking classy and sophisticated, and well, adult-like.

So when I have to do something"grown-up", or just want to be looked at as the adult that I am, I try to dress a little more, um, adult-like. Well, as adult-like as I can get I guess. One of my big kid wardrobe piece is this pencil skirt. Actually, it's my one and only pencil skirt but I do love it.

Owl Love

Wow was this past weekend wonderful or what? The weather was gorgeous and warm (it got up to 90 degrees on Sunday!) Tad and I lounged around most of the weekend, spending some time outside with our dogs, eating yummy food, and even walking to our local Pasadena Flea Market. I picked up a pretty pretty vintage dress (I'll post on here soon) and a cute little pyrex jar that Tad said I didn't need. Well, of course I don't need need it, but I still need it. You get what I mean, right?

Anyways, this is what I wore and how awesome-cool-rad-adorable is this owl bag that my cute cousin Joye got for me? She found it while vacationing in Thailand and brought it all the way home for me. I love it so much, thank you Joye! 

"Owl" love it forever (sorry, I just couldn't resist).
