Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Awkward:
- Going to work wearing two different shoes. And no, I was not even dressing in the dark! I didn't even realized it until a couple hours later, when my co-worker politely pointed out my shoes. She said she wasn't sure if I meant to do it, like maybe it was an early halloween thing. Haha, she's so sweet. It was only then that I noticed each foot feeling different. To make matters worse, Tad asked me to pick up Chipotle for dinner on the way home and there was a very long line...I'm sure everyone behind me noticed the shoes and made fun of me!
- Circling around the whole market 3 times in search of lady fingers to make tiramisu. I finally found one lonely pack left. Only thing was, I needed 2 packs.
- Going to the mall with my mom and seeing a cute halloween costume. I went to the dressing room to try on a costume and my mom made me come out and show her. When I came out, she handed me a blond wig and made me put it on (while everyone in the store watched). Then she proceeded to tell me that I had to get the costume with the wig. I just had to.
- Coming home to find that Buddy chewed our front door....and part of the wall. What a bad dog.

Awesome:
- Booking our whole vacation for January- we're going to Belize! We've decided this a few weeks ago but it never feels official until the flight and hotel is booked. I can't wait.
- Monty having her 6 week x-ray check up for her ACL surgery; she's doing really well!
- Finally getting a whole day to catch up on all my sewing projects- I finished sewing a bag for a gift, hemmed my pants, and sewed a collar onto a super cute shirt.
- Spotting this dress at Anthropologie- it has origami cranes all over it! How it I not get it? Ever since I folded 1000 origami cranes for our wedding I've been obsessed with them.
- Having my wedding clients finish booking all their vendors and getting started on planning my best friend's baby shower.

Yay! This week has been super busy but very productive. I'm expecting to get even busier as the holiday approaches with lots of sewing projects, party planning, and holiday events- but I'm so excited about it all!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Happy Awkward and Awesome Thursday! It's actually my Friday today and I'm really looking forward to this weekend- it's our one year wedding anniversary!!!! We have lots of fun things planned for this weekend- too many things actually. We didn't think we'd have time to do all the things we wanted to in one weekend so we decided to do some of the stuff on Labor Day- this included renting Segways in Santa Monica. It was awesome! We rode down south to Venice Beach, then back up towards Santa Monica, to Malibu, and back. We ended the day with a yummy dinner. Oh, and let's not forget the cream. It is a celebration after all.

Awkward:
- Learning how to ride a segway- I swear a snail could have passed me at first. It's a little awkward but you get the hang of it pretty quickly and before I knew it, I was zipping along.
- Uncapping my lip gloss. After it was in my car all day when it's been 100 degrees outside. Then not realizing that it dripped onto my shirt and left a huge red stain until after I came home. I hate that! Then you start thinking back to all the people you talked to that must have seen it and been too polite to say anything.
- Looking like dorks wearing these helmets while riding our segways- but hey, safety first right?
- Walking into the post office with the tape that I bought from there the last time I was there- then the clerk looked at me as I put it in my purse and said "you want to pay for that?" Ummm, no, I already did- see the stupid little stamp you already put on the tag? geez.
- Turning on my iPod for my dogs while they stayed inside when we're at work. I set it on shuffle and walked away...then walked back to it because I decided they'd rather hear my oldies playlist. As if my dog knows the difference. Ha.
- Being caught not listening to my co-worker as he was telling me a story. I laughed loudly when I shouldn't have. He immediately called me out on it by saying "you aren't even listening are you?" oops.
- Calling a DJ as a wedding coordinator for my clients, then having him give me advice on which coordinator I should call. Um, no. I am the coordinator.

Awesome:
- Learning how to sew a tie for part of Tad's anniversary gift- it turned out so cute, I want to make him a ton! Hopefully one day I can sew nice Italian silk ties.
- Getting a new camera from Tad- this awesome Diana lomo camera!
- Finding a Choco Taco in the freezer- when I thought we ate all of them already. What a yummy surprise,  especially when you are craving something sweet. I didn't tell the hubby, I just ate it quickly. I was selfish.
- Meeting our good friends (and old neighbors) for dinner and getting to meet their one month year old daughter, Stella, for the first time. She's super adorable!
- Getting this Dear Creatures dress as a gift- I've been lusting over this dress all summer and now it's finally mine!
- Getting 5 more members on my blog this week. I get so excited when I see someone new following me- it's awesome- makes me so so happy, thank you!!

I think that's about it-  more awkwards than awesomes this week but it's all good! Yay, Friday tomorrow!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Today I decided to take some sun-kissed, washed-out photos and I kinda like how they turned out! They kind of reflect the mood I'm feeling right now- happy, relaxed, and mellow. Anyways, it's Thursday! Time for some awkwardness and awesomeness.

Awkward:

- Putting a cone on my dog- she just got surgery for a torn ACL and it's always so awkward putting the cone on and off her head. She's also always running into the walls with the cone or closing the door on herself- I just feel awkward for her!

- Being caught wearing the same dress (the one pictured here!) 2 days in a row. I wore this to work then I wore it on my day off and a co-worker just happened to see me in a coffee shop. Isn't it weird that you only run into people when you're doing something awkward?

- I consider myself a pretty good parallel-parker (got good practice in college!) but I always seem to have problems doing it when someone is standing there and watching me! This particular time, I ran into the curb so hard I almost bounced up it. Grrrrrrr.

Awesome:

- I got asked by some friends to officially be their wedding coordinator! I've always loved planning parties and events and I love getting creative and paying attention to every little detail. This is why I probably had so much fun planning my own wedding. I feel honored and excited (and a little nervous!) to be doing this for them! There's lots of work to be done and I can't wait to see how everything will pull together in the end.

- Last night I was invited by my friend Becky to go to the live viewing of America's Got Talent- it was so awesome! Her boyfriend is the assistant producer so we got to go backstage, got cool seats, and see a little of the behind-the-scenes. We even got to see Nicki Minaj, David Guetta, and Flo Rida perform.

- Having dinner with my old swim coach from when I was in highschool. I haven't seen him in over 10 years! He was the scariest, toughest, meanest coach ever- but he was one of my favorites because coaching was his passion and he really pushed me and made me the swimmer that I became (made nationals and got a scholarship because of him).

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Happy Thursday! I miss the last couple Awkward and Awesome Thursdays but I thought I'd start up again today. (The photo above was taken a while ago on my birthday weekend. I'm listening to an astronomy lecture at the library in the Huntington Library).

Awkward:

- While out surfing, I suddenly started thinking about sharks (hey, i just watched Shark Week!) and right then I felt something brush my toes and shrieked...loudly...then I realized that it was only seaweed.

- Removing my tights for dinner after work (it's always cold at work) then realizing that I didn't shave my legs...so I went to put my tights back on, only to find that I had made a run in it while taking it off. I seriously sat in the car for 5 minutes thinking what should I do? haha. I ended up just skipping the tights and hoping no one would notice my unshaven legs. Gross, I know.

- While altering a vintage dress, I accidentally made a wrong slit in the fabric so I ended up having to shorten it more than I would have liked to...but my husband said it's sexier now. Hmmm...not sure that this vintage dress is suppose to look sexy...but I'll have to make it work!

- Going to a karaoke bar with friends. And singing. You see, I can't carry a tune for the life of me and my voice is terrible! I use to be one of those that either had to be really drunk to sing or just sat there singing silently. Well, I got over that and stopped being so self conscious- it's so fun! Tad on the other hand is not shy at all.

- When calling my husband a guy picked up and I said "Hi babe!" and he replies, "Hey what's going on?" and then I realized it didn't sound like my husband and when I checked the #, I had dialed it wrong. I wasn't sure what to say so I just hung up!

Awesome:
- While paying a parking a meter, an old man stopped and told me that he alway loves it when a woman dresses up and then he actually thanked me! I told him thank you and that I try! It didn't come out sleezy at all and I took it as a true compliment.
- Having happy hour with my co-workers. So much fun and we decided that we were going to try to do it every 2 weeks.

- Getting these shoes in the mail and having them fit so comfortably!

- Reaching my first 100 posts! When I started blogging last April, I didn't realize how much fun it was going to be. Thank you all so much for reading and commenting, I really love knowing other people are enjoying my blog.

Happy Thursday! This photo was taken by my dear husband a couple weekends ago when we were in Seattle for a wedding. I think this may be my new favorite dress- the cut is amazing, I love the color, and the print is awesome. I mean, they're mini elephants! 


I decided to play Sydney's Awkward and Awesome Thursdays again so here goes:

Awkward:
- Buying 8 boxes of choco tacos for Tad's birthday fiesta and having the grocery clerk look at me strangely. Obviously, they aren't all for me.
- My yucky red highlights that are fading. I'm thinking of dying my hair back to black so I don't have to keep maintaining it.
- Having my 2 year old niece tell me that the bottom of my foot is dirty- in front of my mom and cousin.
- Coming out of the hospital elevator and having someone say " Hi Doctor". Instead of correcting him, I just said hi back and walked away.
- Being the first of my friends at the bar then having to wait 30 minutes for all the other girls to show up. I ordered a drink and sat by myself at the bar...with weirdo guys around me...awkward...

Awesome:
- Finally finished sewing a cute blouse that I've been working on. It was a lot of work- just cutting out the pattern took me 3 hours!
- My tattoo has peeled and is almost healed. Yay.
- Discovering that Costco sells individual packs of edamame that you can just heat up in 3 minutes. Yum!
- Getting together for pizza with good friends Jenn and Allen- they just came back from a trip to Japan and it was fun hearing about their adventures.
- Going out for ice cream before dinner with Tad. We did it yesterday (in case you're wondering, I had jamoca almond fudge).

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

I've been a fan of Sydney from The Daybook for some time now and one of my favorite things to read are her awkward and awesome Thursday posts...usually I just read them and laugh...but today I'm going to take part in it! So here goes...read below for my awkard and awesomeness!

outfit:

Awkward:
- My hubby and I trying to save money by cooking and eating in more. So we decided we wanted to eat burgers and took a trip to the grocery store. Only we spent $20 bucks on ingredients to make 2 burgers. We could have just gone to In-and-Out for cheaper (and faster...and tastier?) burgers. They were yummy though.
- Getting asked three times by different people at work if I was pregnant only because I was wearing a flowy blouse.
- Having my sewing teacher show the class an example of my skirt and how it should be done. Then her realizing I made a mistake in a step and having to rip those stitches out and start over.
- Sitting in a waiting room at the Drs. office next to a couple that was arguing. I just kept my head down pretending to read my kindle but really I was listening to their points and silently siding with the guy's point of view. I couldn't help it.
- Going into the tattoo parlor to ask for a tattoo the size of a nickel and getting told that it would look awful. The awesome thing was getting a super cool sketch of the tattoo done by the guy (he said it has to be at least the size of a quarter to show the details).

Awesome:
- Meeting photographer and designer Kristine Ko for plans about an upcoming photoshoot- I can't wait! More to come later. Eek!
- Discovering The Dog Haus in Pasadena that makes really yummy hot doggies.
- Surfing with my surf buddies again- it's been a few years since we got together but we made a summer goal to surf lots and lots together these next few months (we've been surf buddies since 1998!)
- Having our Love Story featured on Ruche's blog- so cool!
- Discovering a new Macarons store in my neighborhood!
- Getting my yearly eye exam done by my best friend Sharon- she's the best optometrist there is!

So there you have it! We are all totally awkward and awesome in our own way and it's great! Lastly, it's my Friday today! We'll be flying to Seattle for a friend's wedding and I can't wait.

I just really love weddings. Alot.
