Chinese Takeout

Happy Halloween everyone!! Tad and I dressed up and went out with friends over the weekend so today we're going to spend Halloween at home, passing out candy. That is, if we get any trick-or-treaters! Last  year, we didn't get a single one! But you never know so just in case, we have a little bowl of candy to hand out. And hey, if no one comes, then more candy for me right? Have fun and stay safe!

I Have a (Big) Heart

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I've been enjoying the cooler, refreshing but still sunny weather we're having here in SoCal and I've started noticing the fall decorations around our neighborhood- I love it. I'm also starting to get in the mood for hot chocolate, apple cider, and anything peppermint flavor- yay the holidays are coming!

Seeing Double (Exposure)

Can you spot the yummy funnel cake floating around in this picture?

So I finally got around to developing my first roll of film that I took on my new Diana- a lot of shots came out too dark but there were some interesting double (and triple) exposures.

Sharon after some early morning surf

I can't wait get started on a new roll of film! The fun part is waiting to get these developed to see what was captured- always a fun surprise!

Cool and Crisp

Hello all! Well it's certainly getting cooler here- well cool enough to wear a light sweater and tights anyways...I guess it's finally feeling like fall with the air feeling cool and crisp. I'm just getting around to looking for a halloween costume. I was thinking of just wearing an old one (like my sponge bob or pink crayon!) but that's no fun right? I guess I better find one soon because halloween is just around the corner!

Horses and Surprises

I've always wanted a horse. When I was younger my parents use to tease me and tell me that when I turned 16 they would buy me a horse instead of a car. They are just such beautiful creatures and I use to wish I grew up in a farm or ranch just so I could have one. I even had a name picked out- Mochi. Well, my dream of owing a horse never came true but I still love them- and so I just couldn't resist this horse print dress from Ruche. Adorable!

Anyways, hooray for Friday! My Friday is turning out awesome- I had a Drs. appointment in the morning and when I came home, there was a package at the door addressed to my husband. I called him and he asked me to open it to make sure nothing was damaged. When I opened the box, I gasped in surprise! In it was a Nikon box- a D7000, a camera I have been wanting since last year. My husband is such a sweetheart!

Monty is 5!

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Our loving Monty-poo just turned 5 and we got her a dog-friendly peanut butter cake from Three Dog Bakery! We adopted Monty from It's the Pits, a dog rescue specializing in bully breeds when she was only 6 months old and she's been our "child" ever since. She is the most loving, sweet, and obedient dog ever and we love her so much!

Buddy wanted in on the action too. He loves a party.

Monty is also recovering from an ACL repair and she's doing so well! She just had her 6 week check-up and her bone is healing well. I feel bad because she has to be separated from Buddy, her best friend, and confined to a small room when we aren't at home so she won't jump around or wrestle. She also has to be restrained on a leash every time we bring her out to do her business. Basically, she just can't really be a dog. But we only have 6 more weeks to go until she can back to being normal again!

LOMO Love

For someone who hates clutter, I actually have a lot of little collections. These include vintage mugs, mason jars, and my favorite thing to collect- cameras. I'm always on the lookout for cute box cameras and I've actually scored a couple vintage ones from flea markets. I also love collecting LOMO cameras. They are just so much fun!

What do you like to collect? I'm pretty much a sucker for anything vintage. Oh, and I love dogs- I have 3 but I wish I could "collect" more!

Happy Monday! It's a happy Monday for me because I'm actually off today. Don't be jealous though, because I had to work all weekend. Boo. Tad and I still managed to have a little fun over the weekend- we watched Real Steel (Tad made me but I ended up really liking it!), went out for sushi (twice!), and ate gelato and macarons. Not too bad for a weekend filled with work. The weather also started to cool down, which is nice.

Did you have a good weekend? Was it filled with work? Or fun? Or maybe a little bit of both?

Today I'm off to see my oldest, bestest friend Sharon for lunch, then meeting up with another friend for dinner. ... and maybe a little bit of shopping in between. Fun times!

Tiramisu, How I Love You

One of my favorite desserts (besides ice cream) is tiramisu. Tad and I order it at every Italian restaurant we go to. I'm not quite sure why, but I never really thought to try to make it myself at home. It just seemed to complicated. Well, I finally gave it a try, using this recipe from Epicurious. Aside from the fact that I only used one pack (instead of 2) of ladyfingers, it came out pretty well!

It was a lot easier to make than I thought. Not only that, but it was fun! I enjoyed beating the egg whites until they formed stiff peaks; and it's really neat how you can beat heavy cream into a light, fluffy and delicious cream.

I'm so happy I now know how to make our favorite dessert! The time I make it, I'll make sure to get enough ladyfingers so I can make lots of delicious layers. Some chocolate shavings on top wouldn't hurt either. Do you have a favorite dessert that you've tried to replicate at home?

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Awkward:
- Going to work wearing two different shoes. And no, I was not even dressing in the dark! I didn't even realized it until a couple hours later, when my co-worker politely pointed out my shoes. She said she wasn't sure if I meant to do it, like maybe it was an early halloween thing. Haha, she's so sweet. It was only then that I noticed each foot feeling different. To make matters worse, Tad asked me to pick up Chipotle for dinner on the way home and there was a very long line...I'm sure everyone behind me noticed the shoes and made fun of me!
- Circling around the whole market 3 times in search of lady fingers to make tiramisu. I finally found one lonely pack left. Only thing was, I needed 2 packs.
- Going to the mall with my mom and seeing a cute halloween costume. I went to the dressing room to try on a costume and my mom made me come out and show her. When I came out, she handed me a blond wig and made me put it on (while everyone in the store watched). Then she proceeded to tell me that I had to get the costume with the wig. I just had to.
- Coming home to find that Buddy chewed our front door....and part of the wall. What a bad dog.

Awesome:
- Booking our whole vacation for January- we're going to Belize! We've decided this a few weeks ago but it never feels official until the flight and hotel is booked. I can't wait.
- Monty having her 6 week x-ray check up for her ACL surgery; she's doing really well!
- Finally getting a whole day to catch up on all my sewing projects- I finished sewing a bag for a gift, hemmed my pants, and sewed a collar onto a super cute shirt.
- Spotting this dress at Anthropologie- it has origami cranes all over it! How it I not get it? Ever since I folded 1000 origami cranes for our wedding I've been obsessed with them.
- Having my wedding clients finish booking all their vendors and getting started on planning my best friend's baby shower.

Yay! This week has been super busy but very productive. I'm expecting to get even busier as the holiday approaches with lots of sewing projects, party planning, and holiday events- but I'm so excited about it all!

Summer's Back

Just when it finally started to feel like fall, the weather warmed up and today it's suppose to be 96 degrees! It's like summer came back, so weird. Last week I was wearing tights and a light coat and today I'm wearing a thin summer dress. I can't complain though because the hot sunshine does feel awfully good.

Shoes- Kensie Girl
Necklace- Forever 21

It's a good thing I keep all of my wardrobe in my closet year around. I'm too lazy to pack up my spring/summer clothes to make room for my fall/winter clothes. It's probably because I live in Southern California so we don't get too much of that extreme weather. Did you already switch your wardrobe to colder temperatures only to have to go digging for your summer clothes?
